You will need to get an unlock code from your provider I'm afraid. They will sometimes provide this for free but it can be difficult and they may only send it after a few attempts by email. If you tell them you are going abroad for a long time then they should provide you with the code although sometimes there will be a charge depending on your contract and you may need to have been a customer for some months.
Firstly you will need your IMEI or International Mobile Equipment identity number which you can get by typing * # 06 # into your phone's keypad, it will then display the 15-17 digit number. Then, when you have the unlock code from your provider you simply follow their instructions by entering the code into your phone with the new, unaccepted SIM entered. You may need to type a combination of # and * around the code but instructions should be provided.
Once the unlock code is accepted then the "Network Unlocked" message will display and the phone may restart. There may be software you can download to unlock your phone or remote unlocking services available online but these are always risky as you may invalidate your warranty and they are unlikely to be free.
