More computers are coming with built-in webcams. They're designed to work in conjunction with instant messaging and VOIP programs like Yahoo! Messenger and Skype. Many photo editing programs, like Google's Picasa, can also capture photos directly from them. It is fairly simple to access your webcam with each of these free programs.

Firstly open Yahoo! Messenger and select ‘My Webcam’ from the ‘Messenger’ menu. This will bring up a window showing what your webcam sees. To invite one of your contacts to view your webcam, right-click on them in your contacts list and choose "Invite to View My Webcam" from the "More Actions" area of the pop-up menu. They will receive an invitation asking them to view your webcam.

If you prefer to use Skype, open the Skype program and select a contact you'd wish to call. Skype will automatically detect that you have a webcam attached to your computer and give you the option to place a "Call" or "Video call" to the contact. Choose "Video call" and you're in business.

Or if you open Picasa and select the webcam icon to the right of the 'Import' button. A window displaying a view from your webcam will pop up. Click the 'Record' button or camera icon to begin recording a video or take a snapshot.

Its so simple for your laptop webcam there would be a driver which is already been installed. If it installed check the CD which given to you at the time of purchase. In that there will be a application for your own camera install it and use that. When the time of using skype or chat if you started your video session the cam will automatically gets on. Tats IT. Whatever os or platform your usin this the generic way.

I wish I knew. I just got this same model laptop from acer and it clearly has the eye for the cam but no software or drivers or any way to turn it on at all.

You have to install driver just see in site

in that you have to search by giving your laptop model number
for example: Hp 6720s drivers than click on search
it will display all your drivers

its better if you know driver number than you have just to search by editing the driver number and download the driver
for ex. Search.....sp9989 search

after installing the driver an icon appear in desktop open that desktop icon your cam starts

On your desktop there should be an icon that says 'Cyberlink YouCam', click it and there should be options where you can play around with the settings and also you can take a picture or record a video. Hope that helped.
