Go to your computer’s control panel, select hardware and sound. Depending on what version of Windows you are running you should see something called scanners and cameras. Click on view scanners and cameras or click on the heading. Either option will open the scanners and camera page, which shows you what devices have been installed on your Acer Laptop. You should see your webcam if it is installed properly.
I am assuming you have a built in camera. As long as the device shows up in this area you should be able to start the camera by clicking on the webcam shortcut button on your keyboard or via the start menu by finding the webcam under all programmes. It may be under accessories. It will slightly depend on the Windows version you run. If the webcam is not on you may have to turn it on and then hit refresh to see it under the device listing in the control panel; however, with a built in camera it should just show up if you have the proper software on your laptop for it.
If you do not have a built in laptop webcam you will need to install the appropriate driver software which can be found via online or should have come with your product. If this is the case you should be able to create a desktop shortcut for the webcam.
If none of this works try opening up Skype or another type of programme like Yahoo Messenger and starting video conferencing. You may be able to get the camera to start this way as long as the proper software is installed. If there is a defect I suggest you go to the store you bought the computer at and ask them or call Acer directly for troubleshooting.
