Making a bold font on Facebook is different to making a bold font on a computer program or on an email. You have to put stars around the text you wish to bold, *like this* and it will make the copy bold. The stars will not show up, but the text will change to bold for you.
You can do the same thing for text that you would like to make italic to do this, you need to put an underscore under the copy that you would like to make underlined: _like this_. These are referred to as fast keys.
Facebook does not have a tool bar that allows you to make these changes in the same way as you would an email. Because of this, not as many people use different text and fonts on their wall posts. Everyone can make a smiley face but this is where the extent of graphic and use of different font ends for most Facebook users.
Facebook was launched in February 2004 by Mark Zuckerburg who created the website with his classmates whilst at university. The story of how Facebook was created is now global, following the film, The Social Network.
Facebook had 600 million users worldwide in January 2011 and this has continued to grow since.
People use Facebook for many reasons, for finding old friends, catching up with current ones with the messaging, wall and instant messaging functions and they also share videos and photos on their Facebook profiles.
Games on Facebook have also taken off and there are millions of people that use Facebook for games, these are simple games unlike those you would buy. Word games and virtual farms score highly in the ratings of Facebook games.
