To invert the video on your computer screen, and turn it from a positive image to a negative image, follow the instructions below - for either PC or Mac.
PC:
Therefore, your monitor doesn't need to use so much energy to produce a largely-black screen. It will still need to power the back-light, however - and any off-black will still take energy to produce, though less than pure white.
Some people also prefer working with predominantly black screens, because they find it to be more relaxing on the eye and less likely to trigger migraines.
You might also find this technique handy if you find that the sun is shining on your screen and the glare is making it hard for you to see.
PC:
- Hold down 'Shift' and 'Alt' at the same time
- Tap 'Prnt Scrn'/ 'SysRq' twice
- Repeat the combination to reverse back to a positive image
- Hold down the 'Ctrl', 'Alt' and 'Option' keys at the same time
- Tap '8' once
- Repeat the combination to reverse back to a positive image
