First of all you need to log onto www.gmail.com and you will spot a button in the bottom right hand corner with 'Create an account' written on it. Click on this and it will take you to a page where you need to enter information. You will have to fill in your first name, last name and then your desired log in name, such as [email protected]. You will be told whether or not your desired name is available for use and if it is not, then you will be given a selection of alternatives.
Next you must choose a password, and then re-enter it. A little bar at the side will show how strong your password is.
If you already have an existing email account with another provider then you will be asked to enter it. If you do not then just leave it blank. Google will contact this email address if you ever forget your password and need to reset it. It will also be used to verify your new Gmail account by sending an email which contains a link that you will have to follow.
Then you will have to type the letters and numbers into the verification box.
