I wish someone would get the answer to this question, because I haven't had this problem until I started using the HDMI port.  My HD cable works fine using the other cables, but when I try to use my ps3 through hdmi it sounds like the tv is trying to figure out what video to use 720p or 1080i and then it just stays blank and the power and opc lights flash three times, pause, flash three times, pause, this cycle continues until I pres the power button and the tv tries to figure it out again ...

I also have a similiar problem on my Sharp LC-52D65U, I was watching TV one night and it just shut off on me and gave me a Power and OPC pattern. I tried powering it on again and it worked for about 10 mins and it happened again.

After some research, I found a "factory default reset" method. I tried it and my tv's been going for about half an hour. Here's how you do it :

After seeing the pattern, unplug your TV and wait about 10 seconds.
Hold down the power button on the TV (without plugging back in)
While having the power button held down, plug it back in
Wait 10 seconds and let go of the power button

Try and hope for the best.

I had this exact same problem with my Aquos, the power and opc light blinking in a pattern and the tv refused to turn on complete with the clicking. After struggling for a while I decided to push buttons, when I pushed and held the input button it worked. The tv finally turned back on.

Just repaired my sharp lc32x20e, after checking for bulging capacitors, s/c diodes etc, modern day components don't usually fail. The problem was soldered connections to the surface mounted components (SMC) on the power supply. SHARP uses high melting point solder, giving rise to poor connection. Temperature has an effect on giving intermittent faults. The blinking power and opc leds are fault codes. Locating the area in question using a hair dryer on localised areas of the PSU will help to locate the area that requires soldering with fine point soldering iron and standard solder a magnifying glass to check work done. I hope this gives you some advice to you and many other people who have problems with the SHARP flashing leds.

My Sharp LC32SB23U is experiencing a similar issue in which the picture automatically shoots up to the maximum brightness level and the set just shuts off. After that, the power light and OPC lights begin to blink. I've been able to solve the problem temporarily multiple times now, but I want a permanent solution using as little cash as possible. I've already switched the set to the user setting, taken off all auto features, lowered brightness levels, removed auto contrasts, and reset the system to the factory default setting. Does anyone know of a way to solve this issue using as little cash as possible?

If the problem is permanent, you need a new sound board. See Sharp Repair on that issue.
