Well, you should get a writeable DVD at first, then insert the dvd you want to copy into your laptop, click open the dvd icon, then copy the files to your computer, after this has been down , insert the blank dvd, then copy to it. By the way, you do have a recordable dvd, that is necessary.

To both copy dvd to laptop and copy dvd to blank dvd, you need the all-in-one DVD video audio converter which includes 4 professional and excellent conversion tools: DVD ripper, video converter, DVD Copy and Audio converter.

DVD ripper - Rip DVD to MPEG, Xvid, MP4, AVI, MPEG, FLV, WMV, ASF, 3GP, 3G2, MOV, M4V, MPG,etc.
DVD copy - Copy single-layer DVD5, Copy dual-layer DVD9, Copy DVD to hard drive, Burn DVD

Yes, Yacikier is right. Here I'd like to add some details about DVD Copy.
You can copy DVD to ISO(image file) or DVD folder(VOB file) saved on your hard drive, or copy DVD to blank DVD disc(to do this, you will need a DVD-RAM drive as well because a DVD-ROM drive doesn't have the burning function).
More details here about copying DVD.
