Getting a Torchic in Pokemon Heart Gold could prove difficult and rather lengthy. You must make sure you already have a good collection of highly-trained Pokemon before you attempt this.

Here is how to obtain a Torchic in Pokemon Heart Gold:

Firstly, you must complete the main storyline.
Then make sure you have collected all sixteen gym leader badges!
After you have done this, you must travel to the top of Mt. Silver.
Here you will find the trainer Red, who will be waiting for you.
You must beat Red, but be wary, as he has very high level (80+) Pokemon.
If you have managed to do all the above, you then have to take a trip to the Silph Co. And meet Stephen.
