If you have lost or forgotten your iPod Touch password, you have a very limited number of options available to you to get access again. You will have to go through the process to restore your iPod to regain access.
The restore function is part of the troubleshooting process for your iPod Touch. You should always keep your password in a safe place or use one that you'll always remember since using the restore function will delete all of the data from your device and all settings will be returned to their factory conditions.
The first thing you'll want to with your device before you start the restore process is to sync the device. Now make sure you have the latest version of iTunes up and running before attempting any updates. Now connect your device to your computer. When iPod Touch appears in iTunes under devices, select it. Now select the Summary tab, and select the Restore option.
When you see the prompt to back-up settings before restore, select the Back Up option unless you have already performed this task. Once this process is complete, your device will restart and you'll see the Apple logo while it performs this task. The final step in the process is to restore the device from a previous back-up.
Once you completed this process you'll once again have full use of your Apple iPod Touch. What you will not have is any of the previous data in the form of songs, downloaded apps, etc...that you had before the restore. It will take you some time to put it back in the condition it was before you performed the restore function, but this should be good incentive not to lose your password again, or to use one that you will not forget so easily.
