Why Doesn't My Computer Recognize My USB Cord When I Plug It In?

The reason for your computer not recognizing your USB cord can be many. The first most possible one is that your USB port has stopped working and you can't do any thing about it, it must be due to the fact you are using an old computer and the USB port has malfunctioned.

Usb device not recognized when I work an extra side mouse or keyboard...

My computer suddenly did not recognise the usb my printer had been in for ages.After trying another usb port on the rear of the computer;it still didn't work!But when I tried it in a usb port in the front of computer IT WORKED STRAIGHT AWAY!(Presumably two ports next to each other can share a fault.)I wish I'd known this,could have saved hours.MICK.

I had the same problem. I was so aggravated! I almost went and bought a different printer from a different company. My advice is to unplug the power supply and the USB cord from the printer itself for a few minutes. Then plug everything back in and then your computer should be able to "recognize" the USB cord. Atleast that is what happened for me. I have a x5470. I hope this helps!!!!!

Ah this happend to me not long ago and I paid £99 for it to get repair it may be that some one has stepped on a cable and dented the inside like mine or you may of accidently put pressure on its side and it may of come out of place either way you might as well get it checked out it wont cost any money just for them to look at it

Any usb device attached to my computer is not recognized

Some times when we put a device into USB port then computer does no recognize it. Try to put the same device in another USB port and if still it does not work then restart your computer. Actually some times we do not take care about how we are removing a device from USB port.

I mean first we should stop the computer to read that device. You can try yourself, just put your web cam in USB port and remove it directly without stopping the computer to use web cam. Now again put your web cam cord in USB port and again just take out the cord from USB port directly. When the third time you will enter your web cam cord into USB port then computer will not recognize it because you did not properly shutdown the web cam properly. So always properly remove a device from your computer USB port. Some times virus does not allow computers to recognize a device.

It could be possible that your computer registry is corrupt and your computer is not recognizing the device entered into USB port. Some times virus affect on computer settings and if virus has changed the setting of your plug and play devices then it is very much possible that your computer will not recognize any device connected through USB port.

Mine has been having tha same problem but what you can try is going to control panel and ^ date

Your going to fallow these steps.
1)your going to buy a installer cat 5 cable online,
2)then restart your PC,
3)connect your usb printer plug into the cat 5 router device

It might be that FAT file is missing in your usb thats why the pc can't read it
