Restoring your iPod does not cause you to lose any of your information besides the password.

(For the iPod touch, only)

Ok, most the answers on here are wrong. I just did it myself, and the process is simple. First off, plug in your iPod to your computer, allow it to register on iTunes, then click on yours. It must be on the original computer. On the homepage for your iPod, you may want to update the newest version for your iPod. Then click restore. It's a pretty easy process from there, and it doesn't require any work from except agreeing to allow it to restore settings. DO NOT remove ipod from your computer until a screen pops up allowing you to do so. Then after it restores, don't remove it! Click restore original settings to get back all of your songs, photos, videos, notes, ect.. After that, your iPod will have restored everything, and there will be no set password on your iPod! You haven't lost anything and you can now set a password that you should be able to remember.

I hope this helps everyone, and if it doesn't, I suggest going to: Support.apple.com
