No you probably couldn't install vista. Pentium II offers a maximum clock rate of 450 MHz and the required amount of vista is 1GHz. It might support XP.

You know specifying your processor is not exactly enough information to determine that. Although in your case, I'm pretty sure vista is not your best choice. Other than the processor, the motherboard and the other components is what determines whether you can install a certain OS, like the the FSB and RAM and graphics card installed

It depends, but I know it runs xp ok and it would probably be extremely slow with vista

No go with windows xp black or xp blue or xp black and blue its basically xp with vista features and looks

You could, but it would be VERY slow and would most likely lack aero. A Pentium 2 is Better off with XP or 2000. And you should get a new bigger hard disk so Vista will have enough space, at least 40GB+.

Yes, very possible. I bought a Pentinum 2 and put vista on it. I would consider buying a 50 GB hard drive and a 2GB memory ( DIMM or RRAM).
