Staryu is quite a rare Pokemon that can be difficult to find. You will need to use a rod to catch Staryu and one place it can be found is in the pond by the daycare. You may be able to find Staryu in Olivine city but it is stressed that good rod is needed or it is possible to find Staryu at Union Cave.

There are many rumors that you can only catch Staryu at night but this does not appear to be true as other Pokemon players have reportedly caught Staryu during the day.

Route 34, route 40, route 47, cherrygrove city, olivine city, cianwood city and union cave.

Go to cianwood or olivine and use the good rod

Route 47 with a super rod during the day.   Usually everywhere at night.

Near the safari zone when you surf around the waters near the waterfall... If you go up the waterfalls there's more chances of staryu
