The truth is there isn't really a "magic formula", but there are a number of tried and tested methods that will get you some followers. As to which channel is most successful, it's down to understanding your demographic, testing stuff out, and having powerful content and creatives.
- Links from site, Facebook widget, pop-ins etc...
- Facebook ads
- Viral content & marketing (i.e. Creating engaging content that current fans share with friends)
- Engaging with people personally, both online & offline.
Building a Facebook following is no easy task, so it's important that you establish early on whether this is a cost-effective method of meeting objectives.
Facebook is truly no longer a "free marketing channel", and even the number of fans that see your posts are limited by Facebook in order to encourage you to boost your reach through advertising.
