Whether or not you are able to read text messages from your computer will depend on the make and model of your phone and your network provider. Some network providers, such as Verizon and Sprint, provide the option to read your text messages online. In order to do this you will need to set up an online account. Once you have registered your phone number to an online account you will be able to access your bills, call history and view your texts online. You may only be able to view the messages from when you set up the online account onwards, some network providers will not store your texts within their website until you have asked them to. Some people have suggested that you can also use your online account to see your pictures, videos and other data that you have stored on your mobile phone.

If you are with a network provider that does not offer the option to view your text messages online, most phones will arrive with software that allows you to view them on your computer. Look for a CD that came in the box with your mobile phone and install it onto your computer. If you have misplaced the CD then most mobile phone companies will offer the software as a download on their website. It is worth considering downloading the software anyway as the website version will be the most up to date. Once you have installed the software you should have the option to connect your phone to the computer via USB or Bluetooth. Using this connection you should be able to browse the contents of your mobile, including your text messages. This software will also allow you to transfer and download any messages that you want to keep onto your computer.
