What am I doing wrong if I can't get the STB menu to appear on the TV screen?  I've attached the antenna wall outlet cable to the STB and then connected the STB to the TV using the av jack?.  The analogue TV picture appears fine suggesting the arial is working however I can't get the STB Menu to appear to allow me to configure it.

A set top box is an electronic implement designed in the shape of a box. It is connected to the television in order to enable the reception of additional channels or increased capabilities for your television. Thus in actuality it is a channel selector used for viewing broadband channels. It works with the help of some external source of signal. The signal source might be anything from a satellite dish, a cable (see cable television), a telephone line, a DSL connection, or even an ordinary VHF or UHF antenna.

You can install a set top box yourself only if you are very handy with electronic things and their uses. But you would get the instructions to get it installed from he instruction manual provided with your set top box. You can also pay for the services of a professional installer to get your set top box installed. It would be more hassle free and save a lot of time and effort.

You will get instructions to install the set-top box from the instruction manual that came with the STB. However, it's best to get a professional install it for you. There are a lot of STBs available these days and each made has different instructions for installing it which is specific to the brand. The set-top box market is crowded. ZillionTV, Zaggbox, SlingBox etc are all relatively new entrants in the STB market.
