If you want to close the dos program then you can do easily by doing some steps which are easy to do if you want to close the dos prompt itself then you can do this via giving the exit command and your Dos prompt will be close.
And as for as your question is concerned then you can close your
program in dos by giving the command like e.g write the close and then write the file name which you want to close and then press enter button then your running program will be close or if the Dos program have any interface like other gui interface having menu tool bars then you can go to the file in the tool bar and then going to the exit button and after clicking on the exit button your Dos program will be closed.
And if the command or even the file>exit button is not working then you can close your Dos program by manually clicking the x button on the title bar on the right most corner of the window.
And if this also don't work then you can do close it randomly by pressing ctrl+alt+del buttons and an end task window will come then press the End Task button and after sometime your program will be closed.

A program in the MS-DOS operating system can be closed using the exit command to the end of the batch file. However, if an operating system such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME or Windows NT is being used, the user must do as follows in order to create a shortcut to the batch file.

After creating a shortcut to the MS-DOS program or the batch file, the user has to click on the shortcut and then click on the properties. Then he or she must click on the properties tab and check the box which instructs you to close on exit. The last step is to click on the option marked apply and then click on the OK button. The shortcut which has been created to the batch file automatically closes the program.
