Do you need a connection to the Internet/WIFI to use the PlayStation 3?

I'm into pretty much anything. Science, art, design, electronics, politics, sports, etc. But my strongpoints are truly woodworking, movies and human relations. I'm an outgoing, easy kind of guy who tends to talk a bit too much.
