QSS is the acronym for Quick Security Setup, which is a function that is supported by TP-LINK Wireless Routers and which complies with WPS so that setting up and configuring security on a wireless network is standardized and simplified. Traditionally, a user would have to create a wireless network name (SSID) and then enter a security key that was both creative and predictable on the access point and the client, so that unwanted access to the wireless network was prevented.

Using the QSS function means that you can connect to your wireless network without having to do this.

A wireless network is any type of computer network that does not rely on any type of cables whatsoever. Besides having cumbersome cables that are always getting in the way, another benefit of this system is that it reduces costs because there is no need for any cables to be introduced into a building. The way it works is by using radio waves as a transmission system.

There are four different types of wireless connections: WPANs (Wireless Personal Area Networks); WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network); WMAN (Wireless Metropolitan Area Network); and WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network).

WPANs are responsible for connecting devices that are contained within a small area, literally within reach of each other, such as Bluetooth. WLANs are capable of linking two or more devices through an access point and are what lots of Internet users are connected to. Users are able to move around the coverage area and still stay connected. A WMAN is a network that is able to connect several WLANs; and WWANs can cover even larger areas, such as between towns and cities to enable different branches of a business to stay connected, for example.

QSS stands for Quick Security Setup, and it allows you to connect to your wireless network. So whether anything else would happen if you pressed it I can't say, but you can get more information about this function here.
