Hard disk is a storage device and it doesn't come under ROM or RAM category. You can't relate it with RAM or ROM. RAM memory disappears once you turn off your computer but hard disk memory is permanent. ROM is read only memory and you can't change anything in it.

Hard disk is a re-writable permanent memory. You can write and delete any data from Hard disk. You can randomly access any data from any drive and copy and paste it anywhere else.

Hard disk is not RAM or ROM it is permanent storage media. The example of RAM (random access memory) is ram memory and ROM is bios which are read only memory.

Hey I got the answer it is neither. Because rom and ram don't have the right qualities for a hard disk. It is neither because on rom you can't change a thing in rom after you have saved on it. And on ram when you turn off your computer your info is gone. But with a hard disk you can change what you want in it and you can save it and not loose it when you turn off your computer.
Peace out,
I'm the one who couldn't find the answer

Then you have the use of a hard-drive with SWAP memory space. This space is set aside on a systems hard-drive to aide in adding virtual RAM so that the Operating System will allow programs to dump large amounts of code into memory. This is the reason you will see the hard-drive on a windows machine become very active when processing. This allows the programs to run smoothly consistently. If not for swap space then the program would have to wait aside RAM space becomes free before continuing processing. So yes in the general terms RAM and ROM doesn't equate to Permanent Storage (Hard drive).

I am looking for an exact answer for my computer homework and I can' t decide whether it is ROM or neither. I need an exact answer or I will just  pick from the most people who say the same thing. I'll get back when I find out for sure.

Neither.

I have had computers that run just fine without a hard drive and some without any drives at all. Of course, the OS didn't have all the frills of Windows, but they DID allow the computer to operate without any drives whatsoever.

Therefore your question is false.

If hard drive crashed, that's a huge losses, so we need some technical knowledge about hard disk drive repair, hard disk recovery, backup, format, partition and hard drive upgrade to solve our hard drive failure problems.
