Internet is the type of network that you are using right now,where anyone is able to access and browse everywhere and whenever they want.

Intranet is a type of network that is specified for a particular institute such as a university,a bank,a large corporation etc.

This allows all of the people within the organization to interact with each other within limitations,people like you and me will not be able to have access to a particular Intranet network unless we are part of the organization that is hosting that network.
