If You Like Strategy Games, I Recommend Age Of Mythology, And If You Can't Get Your Hands On That, Then Age Of Empires III Or War craft III
Strategy games often involve lengthy game play and the creation of many elements which test your management skills. You often need to play the game many times to master the strategy needed to be successful, which is the appeal of these types of games.
A very good strategy game for someone starting out is Age of Empires III. This is set in medieval times, and your task is to build and develop your own military unit - and ultimately conquer others. Within this unit you need to produce food, wood, gold and stone to be able to purchase new buildings and resources for your unit. The game allows you to set the difficulty and size of the game play so that you can gradually master the strategy.
If you like building things, Sim City is an excellent game to try. You will literally be able to watch the game grow from the ground up, and it is quite a challenge to build a city of prosperity and good infrastructure.
Another classic strategy game which should not be forgotten is Caesar III. This was brought out several years back but still is a very enjoyable strategy experience. Set in the time of the Roman Empire, you have to build cities for Caesar and develop them to his requirements.

In my opinion, the best strategy games made to date are The Command and Conquer Series ... .they have great prices..... I own the whole collection and they are still making their games and expansion... Extending the story line even further since 1993..... The latest game is Command and Conquer 3.... Good game with great graphics if you have a good graphics card.....I prefer Red alert two though....
Assassins Creed isn't even close to strategy, it's more like an RPS like Borderlands.
Ruse
Imperial glory is great....requires managment...along with economics and training of your units..
All of the Age Of Empires games.....terrific series...like he said Age Of Mythology....although it is probably a lot less common now....anything by ensemble.....best in the business
Empire Earth, and Empire: Dawn of the Modern World are 2 great strategy games, Also try Stronghold Crusader. That one is a very interesting one. Assassin's creed is not a strategy game! Its an RPG
I have just tried this new game kingory, and though its not for everyone, its a great strategy game. If you do join and want to ask about the game, join the league Lords
All total war games, Empire Earth 1 and 2 along with all of the age of empire games, Europa universalis Rome, Europa Universalis 3, Hearts of Iron 3 and all the stronghold games !
If you need strategy, try Star Craft. It's about an intergalactic war between 3 races. It has a great campaign, mostly because it has a story line that's not that cheesy and well written. Also, you actually do the fight, controlling every single unit personally, unlike some games where you just send your units and you get a result mail telling you how it happened. You can see the battle happen, and you can move them back and do a surprise attack from the back. There are other options like, befriending your enemy. It's like leading your own army and your the great commander. Here you get to actually test your strategy skills. This game takes more then a month to become good at this game. It's worth playing.
