Should Children Bring Cell Phones To School?

Yes, the children like me should bring their cell phones to school because like my school we have afternoon programs and if you forgot to tell your parents about it you can call them or if the program got cancelled you could call your guardians to tell them they didnt have to come pick you up unless of course you are a car rider. Suppose your school or children's school got an early release from school because of a robbery or fire how would you get in touch with your parents well some people would use their cell phones!!! Or what if the bus is late from picking you up or it brakes down or crashes you can easily call your parents on your cell phone so they  are not worried

Yes children should be able to bring cell phones to school. I am a child myself and I arr that children should be able to contact a guardian and if it is used for something else inappropriate thier parents should take their phones away. Eg: If a child walks to school and you arr a parent who wants to make sure that your child gets to school safely and that they put thier phones away in a reasonable place and that they don't fool around with it.

Yes,now a days you need your phone to communicate. If you child doesn't have a phone how would you know where they are..that's one reason! Sometimes the office or teacher wont let the students use the phone not only that but what if its before or after school..like your child is on the street alone..you need to know if he/she is good?

Yes, I think Children Should have The Privlage To Bring Their Cell Phones To School Because They May Need A Way Of Contacting Their Guardian. I Do Say So Myself They Are A Bit Distracting. But If The Child Turns Their 'Cell Phones' On Low Or Vibrate I Think Its Logical For The Children To Be Able To Bring Their Phones To School.If The Phones Were Used In A None Kid Friendly Way Then I Would Reconsider The Fact That Child/Childrens Should Not Have The Privlage To Bring Their Cell Phones To School. So I think Its Perfectally Logical For Child Over The Age Of 8 To Bring Their Phones To school.

No students should  not  have a cell phones in school because they aren't interested in school they are just texting or calling people.

Yes I think they should because if you are a child like me who walks to  school  then your parents wiil want to know ir you are ok. And yes I agree they can be a bit distracting, however its for your own saftey I suppose!

I think it can be very distracting, but at least if something were to happen (godforbid) that at least you would be the first person your child would call, or if a stranger tried to pick them up at the bus stop then they call call 911

Maybe before school. During lunch or after school. Definetely not during class. If you get caught your phone should be taken away and only given to your parents when they come to the school and personaly pick it up. If you grew up in my hose when I was a kid and your parents had to go to school and pick up something of yours that was taken away you would have been spanked! Grounding was out. My dad owned his own business and I had to work for him. After school, weekends and summer vacation. I got paid one dollar an hour less than anyone else so no one would have the nerve to ask for a raise. However, I did get paid and from 12 on I paid for anything I wanted. Loseing something you paid for and getting spanked is a doubly bad deal.

I'd say yes but keep them at the administrative desk. A lot of kids disrespect their teachers by ignoring them and texting their friends, answering phone calls. They do not belong in a classroom. If I were a teacher, I would not allow it. If there's an emergency thats why we have your parents numbers. If the bus breaks down then you can call from your cell. But not in school.

Absolutely! Students should be allowed to have cell phones in school! We all say that cell phones are a bad thing and that students get distracted by them - but they are a form of personal safety in a way. Say for example it was dark when a student was walking home and they needed help of some sort - they would be able to have their cell phone with them and call for help, either from emergency services or parents etc. Just because students should be allowed to have cell phones in school, however this does not mean that they should be used frequently whilst the students are at school.

  I don't think that students must be allowed to use cell phones in school days... Yes may be in the time of collages... But definitely not during our school days. It entirely changes our life upside down...it affects our studies, our concentration more than that we will not spend the joyful movements that we spend during our school days... There will be no chatting with friends but only "msg" and see the condition we have to pay every minute to chat with our friends using cell phones... Usually we talk less to save our money in cell phones than we speak openly.... So in my point of view cell phones are not applicable for school students...!

Yes I do think that students should bring cell phones to school because what if there was a black out, the plug in phones would not work, cause they need power to actually work. Mobile phones can work during/at a black out because, they only need batteries to work, and if the batteries die out, it can be recharge.

No, I don't think so because many kids use thier phones to cheat on tests and text to other people about gossip and all of that.

Students should be able to have their phones with them during class, but they should at least be off. I know it sounds mean and controlling but schools are just doing this so you have a better chance at learning and staying concentrated. With all the kids texting in class, barely anyone listens and if you think about it, it is very disrespectful to your teachers. I mean they take time out of their day to try to help your future and help you find out what you want to do for the rest of you're life. Its also proven that kids who text during class have lower test and class averages.

No they should not be allowed to use them in school/class....except in extreme emergencies.but since students have no self control most times they will not follow the rules .so no they should not be allowed to use them in class.especially with all the cheating going on and gang related/bulllying...

Myself I say no because if there was a shooting or anything like that then how are the kids and teachers going to get ahold of their parents/spouses?
  
On the other hand I think yes because the kids are more likely to text on their hones instead of paying attention to their work.

I am a 15 year old girl and I am a freshman in highschool, I myself have a cell phone and I take it to school but I ALWAYS have it off during school hours when I get ready to get in my car I turn it on.

Well I Am In HIgh School & I Highly Agree that We Can Txt During And NOt During Class . If Your Very Responsible With It , Like No Sexting , Or Anythang Bad .

No they should not have cell phones in school because it would effect their schooling.

Some school allow kids use cell phone ,some not.
Kids not have text during school because their teachers think no necessary,they ask kids do something else instead of text.

It's a kind of contacting, so you are allowed to do it when you are in urgent or special kind of things.

I don't think that it is okay to use your phone during school just to text your friends , I think it's okay if you use it for emergencies only . But if you're phone is on but silent , it should be fine . . .

For teachers only and for emergencies. Such as during the Coumbine shootings it would have been helpful. But the rest of the time, I think the kids would be calling someone and constantly chatting so for students I think it is a bad idea

Kids should have cell phones in school because of safety issues.
-In case of emergencies.
-They could use the Internet for reasearch.
-And while in study hall, it would decrease the noise, that if they had there cellphones to talk to during that period. And in lunches.

Cell phones should be allowed in school because if you let some students use their phones in school they will pay attechion more often. They will try their best in school.so they could get time to ues their cell phones in school.

You Can bring them to school because:
- If you ride a bus, and the bus is late, you should be able to call home. And note: Even using the phones at schools, their are a lot more kids then phones.
- And you can because I'm pretty sure the teacher can't just bane them, theirs rules, although I can't say I know all of them.
- Even if you weren't allowed to bring cell phones to school, the kids probably still would.
- Kinda similar to the first one, if their was some kind of emergency it is easier to have the children use their own cell phones then have a huge long line to use the school phones.

But you can't because:
- You have to pay attention to the teacher and work you're doing.
- The noise interrupts people.
- They are a distraction.

Students should not be allowed to use cell phones during school hours.  They should not be allowed to carry their cell phone with them as well.  Cell phones are very distracting.  Many kids use their cell phones in class to text, or call.  They can also cheat with cell phones by communicating with their peers during a test.  Signals from cell phones can also interfere the schools emergency response system.

Well, I take my cellphone to school and everything. As soon as I start classes I out it on vibration in case if someone sends me something. When I feel this vibration  I ask to go to the bathroom and check who it is, answer it and stuff. Then when I am going back home I put it on normal again :)
