Bus topology means that all the computers are linked to a single network line. I.e. One network line is available and every computer is connected to this line. No computer is server or client here.

While the star topology has a central node (maybe hub or switch) which is responsible for the data coming in and out of the network. It acts as a server and every computer is connected to this central node. In order to communicate with the rest of the network, the computers have to connect to the server and the server performs the services for the client.
