Most phones have a 'last calls' or 'call log' feature on them now.
For iPhone go into Phone > Recents
On Android go into Phone and you will see 'Call Log' which shows you the previous callers
For texts you would simply go into the text message section on the phone to see who has contacted you recenty. Texts are typically sent with a timestamp on them.
