There is an event called, "Change your profile picture to your favorite pokemon!" or something like that and its going on till the end of december.
You pick your favorite pokemon and make it your profile pic. Its a Generation Y thing.
There's something called Pokemon Profile Picture Month, it used to have its own page in wikipedia but now it's deleted. Anyway it's a silly internet thing, you change your profile pic for a pokemon.

It's "Pokemon Appreciation Month" so everyone is putting pokemon display pictures till the end of December :D

In this country we are able to freely express ourselves how we see fit. So we have COMPLETE NERDS making themselves a Facebook and putting those cartoon creatures as their display. To which they think it's AMAZINGLY cool, but it's very unattractive. Did that help?
