If the problem is still happening try the following:

FIRST AND FOREMOST MAKE SURE YOU DATE AND TIME ARE SET CORRECTLY (IF THE DATE AND TIME A WRONG AIM AND MSN WILL NOT WORK)

1- Open windows Firewall (I am assuming you have windows if you have mac see below) and check the exception allowed make sure AIM, and MSN are checked)
2- If the above doesn't work disable windows firewall and try again (don't worry you will re-enable if doesn't work)
3- if the above didn't work then you can try using a couple of commands in command prompt to refresh internet connection

COMMAND PROMPT HELP
>(signifies next step) [enter]= press enter key
1- Start > Run (in Windows Vista use search bar at bottom of start menu) > type CMD then press enter > type (must be exactly as written) cd/ [enter] > ipconfig/release [enter] (you will lose internet connection) > ipconfig/renew [enter] ( your computer will now obtain and renew your Internet settings)

AIM is the acronym for AOL Instant Messenger. It is software that anyone with an Internet can down load and install it in their computer for use. It helps one to connect to more than 100 million Internet users. It is very user friendly and anybody can master the technique of using an AIM very easily.

It runs or operates on the existing internet connection and is just like any other internet program which can be started by double-clicking on the program icon. Just acquire a screen name which would be your online identification when you are logged on to AIM and then connect with your near and dear ones to your hearts content. Communication at work and making new contacts also becomes easier through AIM.

My AIM went into Safe mode, and it said I could still Instant message my buddies, so I just ignored it and continued to use AIM. Well after signing out, walking away, coming back, trying to re-sign in, it just flat out told me that I have a failed connection/log in?

I don't know why it went into safe mode in the first place.
Now Msn yahoo and AIM all do not work.

I have connection and everything so that is not it either, and I refuse to go into the whole command prompt thing. ):

I have the same problem and I have to use aim express and I don't like iit. I can't figure out why it doesn't work. And my whole computer is in safe mode and it worked before this but now it just doesnt work.
