Dratini, whose Japanese name is MINIRYU, is a 5 ft 11 in dragon weighing around seven pounds. Quite large even at birth, this dragon can be found in the dragon's den in SoulSilver. Until a small colony living under water was discovered recently, this dragon was considered to be a mythical Pokemon. His life energy keeps building steadily, reaching uncontrollable levels and causing him to continually molt and shed his skin as he is growing larger.
Being a dragon is his main advantage, and he has no disadvantages. As he continues to grow through a range of levels, he is able to learn 13 moves; learning is spread over 55 levels. He also learns 3 moves from his compatibility with hidden machines of the water type. Another 32 moves are learned from technical machines of varying types. He also learns a total of 11 moves of various types through breeding, as well as picking up eight moves from move tutors.
At level 30, he evolves into Dragonair, with the Japanese name of HAKURYU. Now around 13 ft 1 in tall, with a weight of about 36.4 lbs, he possesses crystalline orbs which appear to give him power to control weather. Dragonair further extends the range of moves through both advancing through levels and breeding. On reaching level 55, Dragonair evolves into Dragonite, a flying dragon. Although he loses some of his height at this final stage of his evolution, the now 7 ft 3 in tall KAIYURU, as he is called in Japanese, weighs a massive 463 lbs. This impressive build allows him to fly freely and without any kind of trouble over raging seas.
He then continues to build on his already impressive array of moves by learning through level advancement, hidden and technical machines, as well through breeding and move tutors.
