You can find a Larvitar in Soul Silver in the Safari Zone. Even with this information they are difficult to find as they only appear at certain times (this is usually during the day, they aren't available after late afternoon) and only in certain areas of the Safari Zone (they tend to be in the mountain regions). It is possible to find the Larvitar at other times if you have certain block items, such as five rocks.

There have been some new additions to the Pokémon Soul Silver game, the Safari Zone is one of them. There were signs of the Safari Zone in the original game but it was not accessible; this game however allows you access and it is this area where the Larvitar will be hiding. In this area you can unlock a setting, by completing a task, which allows you to customize the zone; you can select where things are located which enables you to save time and effort when walking from place to place.

Larvitar is a small green Pokémon; it can eat away at piles of soil and dirt and can even get through mountains. This is its main useful trait although it also has a helpful high-pitched squeal and can bite.

There are lots of cheats and walkthroughs available for Pokémon Soul Silver on numerous websites, you can find some good advice and guidance on the following website amongst others; www.supercheats.com/nintendods/pokemonsoulsilvercheats.htm This website is useful for explaining how to win battles and get through difficult sections of the game.

You can find them in the safari zone in the "mountain" terrain in the daytime (at least I know you can't find them at night) and they pop up every 10 or 20 or so pokemon, if you don't catching just throwing tons of safari balls at it try throwing 1 piece of mud then catching it and just hope it doesnt run. If you throw the mud you'll almost always catch it. The alternative is to get all 16 badges and going to mt. Silver for it rather than just getting 8 which is much easier. Hope this helped.

If you r training in the mt. Silver area, on your what to find red, etc, I found so many it eventually became annoying. I train up there so much 'cause I evolve my little pokemon by switching out with my mewtwo. They evolve with good stats that way. Hope this helps!-kira
