My 12 month plus13 day old 50 inch LG plasma would not turn on. It would "click" and turn off when you tried to turn it on. Needed a service call and I watched the technicians troubleshoot it. They removed the cover, checked fuses and all were fine. They had a spare power supply board, swapped it, and solved the problem. Apparently that is an expensive part, but LG had authorized the repair ( parts plus labour) even though I had not taken the extended warranty. It seems reasonable given how close I was to the actual warranty period, but today you never know what to expect.
I must admit I was quite surprised with the whole process, I had to call twice ( because the warranty office which authorizes the work was not open on the weekend). Both times I was in touch with a live agent within a minute. Both were very courteous and helpful, and no begging was required. I was disappointed the TV crapped out, but pleased with LG support
