Gligar does not evolve by level; only by holding a Razor Fang when it is being levelled up at night. It will then evolve into Gliscor. Both of these are capable of emitting sound waves to detect obstacles and avoiding them.
Besides having this bat-like ability, Gligar also looks like a bat, albeit a purple one with blue wings, that behave more like those of a flying squirrel. It has pointed claws on the edges of these membrane wings, and pincers on its forelegs. It also has a segmented tail that looks like an insect's, with a stinger on the end like a scorpion’s. Gligar also has short hind legs with large single claw on each one.
In case you are still not sure if you are looking at a Gligor, it also has long, pointed ears, eyes shaped like triangles, fangs and a large tongue, which is often protruding from its mouth. The difference between a male and female Gligar is that the female has a smaller stinger than the male.
Gligar and its evolved form, Gliscor, are two out of three Pokémons that are both Flying and Ground, so that they have immunity to both Ground and Electric-type moves.
Gligar is able to perform a few poisonous attacks, such as the Poisonous Sting and Cross Poison. It can also use a few Bug-type moves, such as Fury Cutter and U-turn. It startles its enemy by flying straight at the face and then clamping them with its clawed hind legs and front pincers, after which it jabs them with its poison stinger.
Although Gligar prefers hot arid environments, it will be quite happy in the forest, too. They have a tendency to live in mountainous areas, and make their nests on the sides of cliffs.
