To program a pro 2023 scanner, you first need to turn on the scanner by turning the volume button clockwise. Press ‘manual’, enter the channel number you want to program, and then press ‘manual’ and ‘program’. The channel number then flashes to indicate that you are programming the channel. Enter a frequency, and then press enter to store the frequency. If you make a mistake whilst entering the frequency, ‘error’ will appear on the display screen. If you want the scanner to pause after each transmission before scanning to the next channel, press ‘delay’ so that delay then appears in the display. To turn delay off, press the delay button again. To program more channels, simply repeat all previous steps. If you want to program the next channel in sequence, press ‘program’ and repeat all steps bar the first one. You can then use the ‘squelch’ control to help decrease the scanner’s sensitivity to weak signals. This will allow the scanner to receive only the strongest transmissions. Turn the ‘squelch’ and ‘volume’ controls fully counter-clockwise and turn the volume control clockwise until you hear a hissing sound. At this point, you slowly turn the squelch control clockwise until the hissing sound stops. You can also make the scanner more efficient by locking out certain channels. Manually select the channel and press ‘lock out’ so lock out appears on the display. Channel 1 is designated as the scanner’s priority channel and the priority feature can be turned on by pressing the ‘priority’ button so that priority is displayed on the screen. To manually select a channel, press ‘manual’, enter the channel number and then press ‘manual’ again. If the scanner is scanning and stops at the desired channel, press the manual button just once.
