A friend of mine's Facebook account has been hacked and they are sending messages on her behalf. What's in it for the hackers?

At this case since they are messaging on the owner's behalf.

The highest possibility refers the hackers looking for destroying the person's image and reputation toward other people.

Also it could be taking out information or just a little tease to just embarrass or prove how they can take advantage anytime they want.

most of time hackers hack people's stuff for three reasons

  • to embarrass the person who got hacked or to make fun of them
  • to take something from the hacked person
  • or to steal info on the hacked person and leak them to others
