As a general rule, sticking to your name is usually a safe bet for creating a professional and "neutral" sounding email address. Of course the problem with this is if you are creating a new one (and don't have an unusual name) most permutations of your first and last names may have been taken. I would recommend trying newer domains to try and get the email address you want. For example, outlook.com as a domain is relatively new, whereas gmail.com has been around for the best part of a decade.
Another option would be to purchase your own domain name which can be paid for by yearly subscription, and costs from as little as £1.99. This will give you the opportunity to have an email address like "mail@[yourname].com", which tends to sound even more professional than web based alternatives, which is great if you are applying for jobs etc.
