How do you use Reddit?

Reddit is like a newspaper crossed with Facebook with liberal dashes of The Onion and Wikipedia thrown in. It describes itself as 'the front page of the internet,' and using Reddit can be much like reading a newspaper made up solely of your favourite sections.

Reddit is a social news and networking site founded in 2005 and is based in San Francisco. Registered users can submit articles to Reddit and other users can vote the article up or down. They can also comment on the article and interact with each as they do so, so each article could develop into a multi-user conversation on that topic.

The Various Sections of Reddit

The articles are broadly organised into a number of general sections, which are then further organised into more specific sub-sections. The overall sections are: Education, Entertainment, Discussion, Humour, Image-Sharing, Self-Improvment and Technology.

Each of these sections is broken down into more specific sections. For example, Entertainment contains Creepy, Documentaries, Gaming, ListenToThis, Movies, Music, Sports, Television, and Videos.

The user can also arrange his 'front page' into sections according to the popularity of the multitude of articles on offer to read: Hot, New, Rising, Controversial, Top, Wiki, Gilded or Promoted. The standard front page setting is for the 'hottest' articles.
