To be honest, I can't see how there are too many setbacks to science and technology development in Africa.

This type of development is generally seen as a positive thing.

The only aspect of science and technology development
that might be seen as negative would be that people might try and monopolise the wealth and opportunities that this sort of development might provide.

But, in general, scientific and technological advancements can only really be a good thing for Africa in the long term, in my eyes.

It will enable better infrastructure, help in the battle against social problems such as poverty and disease, and will ease Africa into a brighter future in the 21st century.

As mentioned before, setbacks associated with technological and scientific development are few and far between.

But, in theory, if a corporation or private entity tried to monopolize the market in such a way that they were benefiting while others lost out, then this might be seen as a setback.

Perhaps you can think of an example for that, and discuss it further in your essay (I am assuming this is a homework question)
