It's never a bad idea to incorporate a variety of social media outlets into your promotional strategy. For that reason alone, MySpace is still a valuable tool to use within your social media strategy.
It's important to note, however, that MySpace is nowhere near as influential as it used to be. Here are the facts and figures:
- During the height of its success, MySpace amassed around 76 million users.
- As of 2013, MySpace have recorded a total of approximately 36 millions users.
- Facebook overtook MySpace's amount of users in 2008.
- Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google Plus, Tumblr, Instagram, Flick, and Vine are all currently more popular than MySpace in terms of monthly views.
As you can see, MySpace's control over the social media market has long since passed. If you've got a lot of time to put into your social media strategy then MySpace certainly won't hinder your progress. My personal advice, however, would be to focus upon the more popular social media platforms in order to maximise your exposure.
