There are a number of reasons why you may have been successful in unlocking your iPhone, and so there are a number of options open to you.

  • Check that you have the latest update of iPhone software

Some software, such as Redsnow and AppTapp, will only work properly if you have the latest version of the Apple iPhone Operating System (OS) software. Updating your OS is free, and can be done on your iPhone in a very short period of time.

  • Take your iPhone to an unlocking center

Many independent stores have sprung up over the past 10 years or so which specialize in unlocking cell phones - the iPhone is no exception. Although the iPhone may be different to unlock than a phone such as a Nokia or a Samsung, it is achievable, and a specialist may be able to do this for you for a small charge (usually around $25).

  • Try the AppTapp software

According to online sources, this is the best unlocking software available on the market, although it can take up to an hour to use. The software and full instructions for its use should be available from this site: http://www.nullriver.com/beta/.

  • The iPhone

The iPhone is a smartphone developed by the Apple company. There are a number of models of iPhone available, and it is speculated that a further model will be released towards the end of autumn 2011. So far, there have been four "generations" of iPhone: The original iPhone, the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4.

The iPhone has proven to be hugely popular, often dominating the global smartphone market. This may be because of the huge functionality of the iPhone - it can be used to take pictures, record videos, play music, access the Internet, play games, send and receive emails and texts, and read virtual books as well as the usual functions of a cell phone.

If you have an iPhone 2G/3G/3Gs, then the jailbreaking and unlocking tools should work.

If you have an iPhone 4 or higher, then those methods do not work.

You will have to go for an Official IMEI Unlock, which basically marks your iPhone as unlocked to Apple's databases (or to Mobile Network's databases, I do not know where exactly), and you will be able to use any network you want.

You must find a trustworthy IMEI Unlock provider that can do that for you, but you must know a few things first:

  1. The IMEI number of the iPhone
  2. The Network that blocks your iPhone and its Blacklist status (There are plenty of services that can do that for very low cost)

After knowing those two things, you can order an unlock from an IMEI unlock provider (Make sure to do a very good research first!).
