DirecTV remotes generally operate off the code 10463. To input this you should turn your TV on, press the TV button, and hold the mute and select buttons. This will make the LED blink twice, at which point you enter the code on the keypad and should try the TV.
If this doesn’t work then instead try holding the ‘Setup’ button until the TV light goes off. Enter ‘991’ on your remote control, again using the numeric pad. The LED light again should blink twice. If it does then aim your remote at the TV then actually press ‘TV’ and then the Power Button. If the set turns off then while it’s off press ‘Setup’ to lock the code in.
DirecTV are affiliated with Sansui so use the same codes, so if this code doesn’t work you can try theirs. The same application method is used too, so their instruction manuals will be useful.
Some instructions mention using a ‘thumbs up’ key and a ‘thumbs down’ key. If your instructions do this then note that the green key is up and the red is down.
If none of this helps then DirecTV themselves advise that you undertake a manual search. For this you need to turn on your TV and slide the ‘Mode’ switch to the TV, AV1 or AV2 position, as desired. You then press and hold both ‘Mute’ and ‘Select’ until the green light under the selected TV mode switch flashes twice, then release. Enter 991, followed by another 1. Point the remote at the TV and press CHAN+. Keep pressing this until the TV turns off. Each press of CHAN+ is moving the remove to the next code. When the TV eventually turns off stop pressing CHAN+ and instead press then release the ‘Select’ key.
If the light flashes 3 times before the TV responds you’ve cycled through all the base codes and your TV is specific and requires the original remote.
