No Plasmas are very much alive and living well for those with the proper room for viewing! Plasmas are more expensive to produce than the LCD but anyone that knows know that Plasma has the best picture if you have the proper room! The LCD is more adaptable but also has that situation loss or view if not at the exact positioning when watching. From a sharp side or angle view the LCD picture will disappear. Plasma does not have this issue. But it doesn't do well in direct light and is more fragile as the screen is liquid and maintenance, cleaning, touching of the screen is a very big issue. Chemicals can wreck the picture if applied as will pressure when on, Ir is always on unless unplugged.
