What you would need to do if you are using word 2007 and up for mac is:
Step 1 - Enter down to the second page of the document
Step 2 - Insert your header on the second page by double clicking in the header area, or by clicking insert - header.
Step 3 - Once you enter your header, highlight your header and then click on toolbox.
Step 4 - Click on "Header and Footer"
Step 5 - Check the box next to "different first page"
You should now realize that your header is different from the first page or the header on the first page has disappeared. You should now be able to enter a running head on the first page and have a header that is different from the second page on. . .
