Depending upon the quality of the video you wish to store on your 2 GB memory card, it can hold anything between 20 minutes and 45 minutes of video. It would be 20 minutes if you are recording in high definition or with an extremely high amount of mega pixels. If it is a low quality recording, it should hold up to 45 minutes or more. A 2 GB memory card will also hold around 770 high quality photos or 34 hours of music.

It can sometimes work out to be much more economical to buy a larger memory card which will hold considerably more data. A 32 GB memory card for example can hold up to 720 minutes of video so you do not need to worry about running out of space. The downside of this however, is that they are more expensive and it means all your data is stored in one place, meaning if you lost the one memory card or it was damaged, you would lose all of your data.
Digital memory cards have been a great invention that has changed the way we will record data forever. They are particularly useful because they are so small, re-recordable and do not require any power. They are also durable and will last a long time providing they are looked after. They can be used in digital cameras, mobile phones, laptop computers, MP3 Players and video game consoles.

They were first invented in the 90s for industrial devices such as modems and there became a need for them as phones, laptops, MP3 players and games consoles became smaller and smaller and massive amounts of storage were needed on a small disk. The memory stick has always been the main competitor but it seems the memory card will eventually take over.
