If you've been signed out of your Yahoo ID and you don't remember your password and your security settings, don't panic!

The most important thing is not to keep trying incorrect passwords, as Yahoo will then impose a 24-hour security block on your account - which will mean there's no way of accessing the account until the block expires.

To find out how to get access to your account keep reading:

How to get into your Yahoo account without password

Yahoo has developed a pretty secure system for supporting people in exactly this situation. Whilst the service tries to be as helpful and easy to use as possible, it must also provide protection against malicious attempts to illegally 'hack' into accounts. Because of this, there are a number of steps you'll need to go through before you can regain access to your account. These serve to verify your identity and ensure you are the genuine account holder.

Step by Step- getting back into Yahoo Mail

The first thing to do is press the 'cannot access my account' link on the main sign in page.
This will present you with three further options:
  • I have a problem with my password
  • I forgot my Yahoo! ID
  • I think my account may have been compromised
If you've simply forgotten your password, then perhaps the first option is the one for you.
  1. You will then be asked for your email ID and required to pass a CAPTCHA.
  2. You will then be asked for an alternate email address.
  3. Alternatively, you can opt to answer a security question that you picked at the time of creating your account.

If it is a paid account, you can write a letter to Yahoo headquarters.  They have a record of your billing address and you should be able to provide them with proper identification to prove who you are.  However, be prepared for a long drawn-out fight.

In most cases, Yahoo simply doesn't care.  If you can't remember the answer to your security question, then you are screwed and will have to create a new ID.
