If you have a Hotmail account and you forgot your password, there are several things that can cause login to fail.  Of course, the first is to make sure that you are spelling everything correctly.  Some Logins are case sensitive.  Since you forgot your password and the security question is not working, there is a way to reset your password information.  You can try logging into your normal Windows Live account and changing the password settings from there.  You could always sign up for another Hotmail account and start over.  However, this still does not resolve any issues involved with getting e-mail or data from the one that you want to log into.  You can create a new, temporary Live account and use it to try the access the old password information.  With the new account, you can go to the Windows Live Hotmail Forums.  Go to community forums on the community page and ask your question.

Once on the forum look for answers by user names that have "MSFT” or "Windows Live” in the name.  These are Microsoft representatives and would be an excellent resource for directing you in the right direction to answer questions.  You can try going to this web address

If they’re satisfied, they will provide you with the details needed to get access to your account once more.

Someone hacked my account a few months ago, I was unable to get on to my account as they had changed the password. I then emailed Hotmail themselves and they asked me a few questions, one of them was, 'can you remember who was in your address book?', another 'who did you have emails from?'

From the information I provided to them they unlocked my account and gave me a new password.

You can't log in to an account for which you have forgotten both the username and password. At least you must know the username so that you can get the password with some hint. However, the accounts which are not accessed by the users are deactivated after 30 days and if somehow you activate the account then you can't find old emails on it.

If some one hacked her ID , definitely they will change the basic information of that account, try recovery for some time.. If it doesnt work hire a hacker to open your account.

Would e-mail that hotmail and they hopefully give you a new password. Than write it down. Or open a new account with all the different name and different user name and see what happens. Gave  you two things and see what  one will be better for you. I know I forgot mine for talk city and they gave me a new password each time you should open yahoo account and is much better and g-mail not sure about that. I have instant messenger and yahoo. Also have myspace but, is only for fun for myself. Mine main mail goes to yahoo and I would go for a new account. Good luck

Samar,When you set up your acct.you are usually asked for an alt.e-mail in case this happens.If you didn't give one I don't kno,unless you go to Windows Live & ask them how to recover your password & give them some personal imfo.that you gave them.

Hotmail does deactivate accounts after nonuse. I believe the timeframe is 90 days after you log in. Then after like a year, maybe more, they open the user ID so that others can use it. That is a real big problem with free email accounts. Also, if you do not remember the user name or the password, did you at least have a backup email address on the account. You could go in a register it as lost and they would email it to the backup address but you need to know the user name. Good luck

Log in with your username - and it will prompt you with link for a lost password. You will have to answer the security questions and if you do correctly a new password will be sent to the email address you used when you registered with hotmail.

There is no way you can get your password if you also forgot the answer of the security question. If it is not working then try it another time. However, I am giving you two websites from where you can get information on how to retrieve the password (hacking way).

According to askleo.com and other sources I've seen, the only other way in that  case is to use billing information from any other MSN services you may have used. If that ' s not possible,  there may be nothing you can do, though you could try contacting hotmail.com just to see.

The secret question has been taken away and changed, now the only solution left is the alternate email address. Try to contact the service section from the other address. Otherwise it will become impossible to retrieve it.
