There are numerous ways to connect to the Internet. Here are the more obvious ones:
- Direct connection, by using a computer that is permanently plugged into the Internet.
- By phone line. This may be by dial-up or ADSL, but still uses a phone line.
- By cable. This facility is provided by a cable-TV supplier.
- In a wireless hotspot.
- By satellite. It is possible to have two-way satellite Internet communications nowadays, but it is quite expensive.
