Typically, no, RAM used in a desktop PC is fundamentally different in shape to that of RAM used in a laptop. They are similar in terms of their function but are constructed differently.

Desktop memory is referred to as DIMM and laptop RAM as SO-DIMM. There are DDR and DDR2 types in both desktop PC's and laptops.

You can find an image of a typical desktop PC stick of RAM here and one used in a laptop here.
