Niagara Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. It is located at the border between America and Canada. It is not only a major tourist attraction for people around the world but is also a source of Hydroelectric power. Niagara falls is at the height of 167 feet.

Niagara Falls is not a World Heritage Site. However, it is a place for which high level conservation efforts are taking place. The conservation efforts started as early as 1868 with the name of Free Niagara. In 1885, a legislation was passed for the first state park of New York called Niagara Reservation. In that same year, Queen Victoria Niagara Falls Park was established on the Canadian side of the waterfalls.

A legislation was passed in 1906 for regulating the waters of Niagara Falls, as a result of which the total amount of water diverted from the falls was 56000 cubic feet.
