DAO has an authority of accessing most local databases as well as remote databases by means of ODBC Direct that uses RDO and RDO would connect remotely to any data source, but it doesn't handle local databases well, performance wise. On the other hand, ADO is the newest technology that would access local as well as remote databases, in addition to files, and email programs like Exchange
