It started off as a simple program to connect all of the computers throughout a company. It was invented by Tim Berners-Lee in 1976. In the 1980's however, Marc Andreesen created a browser named Mosaic which allowed everyday people to browse the internet. Before this, most people could not use the internet because it could mostly be used only on Linux machines which were a bit pricey at the time. Today there are many browsers that work on many operating systems and now there are even the technologies of wireless internet or WiFi
